	Back to list of projects	Acoustics of the Vowel – Indices Lead The previous study and corresponding treatise entitled "Acoustics of the Vowel – Preliminaries" presents a critical reading, indeed a falsification, of the current acoustic theory of the vowel, and with this, the current understanding of the voice. However, the treatise seeks to demonstrate that even though prevailing theory fails to adequately designate the vowel specific acoustic characteristics, the theory and corresponding descriptive principles indicate in an indexical way the actual physical characteristics of vowels. The present study attemtps to formulate these indices in order to form a basis for future theoretical approaches.
